Recommendation on Summit Slope skatedot expected next week

Next Thursday night, the Seattle Parks Board will make a recommendation on whether an innovative — and frustrating — Capitol Hill recreational feature will stay or go. Comments must be submitted to the Seattle Parks Board by Friday night to be part of the public record as the board shapes a recommendation on the future of the Summit Slope Park skatedot feature. Comments may be submitted here through the May 20th deadline. CHS reported here on the public comments at the Thursday, May 12th session of the board where those supporting the skatedot — the first of its kinds in Seattle — and those opposing its noise and its presence near residences. Details on next week’s May 26th Parks Board meeting and a video of the skatedot in use are below:

Summit Slope Park Skatedot discussion and recommendation to the Superintendent.
The Board will discuss and make a recommendation to the Superintendent on issues relating to the “skatedot” at the new Summit Slope Park on Capitol Hill. A skatedot is defined as “integrated skateable terrain (that) can be seamlessly integrated into small neighborhood parks and throughout the city by identifying existing spaces that already are or could be used for skating. These elements are small, up to 1,500 square feet.” The Board heard a briefing and held a public hearing on the issue at its May 12 meeting.

SEATTLE PARK BOARD TO HOLDREGULAR MEETING ON MAY 26 The Seattle Board of Park Commissioners will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 26 in the Park Board Room at 100 Dexter Ave. N at the corner of Dexter and Denny.

Where are these guys when I’ve been watching? Most the skaters I’ve seen have kinda sucked. These guys are amazing.

I can’t believe people are reporting the skaters as a nuisance when the p-patch looks atrocious. At least the skaters aren’t there all day. Where do I go to report the nuisance that is the p-patch?
