CHS Pics: Last call at the first Capitol Hill Night Market

CHS visited early Sunday morning to see the new Capitol Hill Night Market (caphillnightmarket.com) at its ultimate moment. Not when it was at its most crowded. Not when all of the trucks were still up and running. Instead, we took a few pictures in that moment when you sometimes need something delicious to eat the most. Here are scenes from just after last call as the remaining bar crowds marched and gave piggy-back rides to each other toward beds, late night dance clubs, a friend’s apartment or sustenance. Things weren’t that much different in Pike/Pine (though a “new” bar did open up nearby). Kevin still didn’t listen to his friend and “forget about her and come with us.” The group looking like they were just getting started admired their friend’s tan in the streetlight. Rancho Bravo was still a zoo. 45 or so people got to go wherever they were headed next with food in their bellies.

Been following the whole Seattle street food initiative since February and it’s good to see this first important step. We felt like we were part of Seattle history being part of it last night. Finally something more than just cream cheese on our hot dogs to buy off the streets on a late night. My fiance is the girl in the 3rd photo down with the fork talking with Pai while that’s the back of my head!

To the kids swilling the bottles of bud and what looked like malibu rum – please don’t ruin this for the rest of us with your stupidity. At least make an effort, bag it or something.
