The Stranger ramps up ticket business with Rudy’s partnership

The largest media entity on Capitol Hill has been quietly growing a new business. Stranger Tickets, already handling online ticket sales for events like the Capitol Hill Block Party, will now move into the “physical location” ticket business through a partnership with Rudy’s Barbershops.

According to an announcement from Rudy’s, the new partnership will enable buyers to make “low-fee hard ticket purchases for select shows at all Rudy’s locations.”

No word in the announcement on whether Rudy’s will continue its partnership with TicketsWest, the ticketing service run by, oddly enough, Red Lion Hotels.

While it’s not the biggest piece of business news in Seattle, the move is the first time the Stranger has put its new service in the spotlight. With the amount of attention the media has given the dire state of print journalism and the need for diversifying revenue streams, Stranger Tickets seems naturally buzzworthy.

“We created Stranger Tickets as a new option for event planners and club owners who wanted lower fees for their customers,” publisher Tim Keck said in the announcement. “Our clients get all the options of an outstanding ticketing service with all the perks that come through The Stranger’s promotions department.”

According to the announcement, Keck, publisher of Index Newspapers — The Stranger and The Portland Mercury –is also the creator of Stranger Tickets.

The Stranger is headquartered at 1535 11th Ave. Learn more at http://strangertickets.com/
