…..why not attempted murder charges and lose your right to live in our society??? Stalk, harrass, assault, and pick up and throw a innocent woman into traffic? WTF? Some countries…you’d probably get instant death penalty.

Bet you never hear of this case…..but you will hear of the next offense he commits….that was out of control based on his “insanity” tho….

This is awful and I hope the victim has a speedy and full recovery. If you follow this blog, you know that random crime in this neighborhood is not uncommon. Victims or violent crime are not to blame. That said, there are things that all of us who live here can do to keep reduce the risk of being a victim. When strolling the neighborhood, it’s best to stay aware of your surroundings. This means take out the headphones, get off the phone and stop texting. Again, not the victims fault so don’t hate on me. I just think people need to realize that although it feels safe in this neighborhood, there is a lot of random violence. People need to trust their instincts and get some street smarts. If a guy is following you and something just doesn’t feel it right, it probably isn’t. Go into a store or do whatever it takes to get away from him or anyone else who give you a bad gut feeling. This all might seem obvious to some but I see people walking around all the time tuned out to their technology. I just people to be safe.

Excellent advice!

People don’t like to hear it, but there are some downsides to all the popular digital devices being used, and safety risk is one of them.

This event brings up two issues. Firstly, I was up on Capitol Hill around the Broadway area and never saw any signs or notices giving us as pedestrians, particularly women, to be careful or cautious due to this assault during daylight hours.
Secondly, while I really feel for the victim/survivor, I also feel that this bring to light the reality of cutting mental health funding and substance abuse treatment facilities (including medications, support groups, housing, work opportunities, counseling and psychiatric services)in the King County, City of Seattle and federal budgets. This assault, along with the multi-shootings that occurred in Seattle could have been avoided if these services are reinstated before anyone else is harmed, killed or simply scared to go out.
