Man fires gun after argument over scratched car in Pike/Pine

A man fired at least six shots at the passenger-side door of a woman’s car early Saturday morning after an argument, according to Seattle Police.

Shortly before 3 a.m. July 16, the victim and a witness said they were sitting in a vehicle parked in the angled parking on 10th Ave between Union and Pike when they heard a thud as something hit their car, they told police. When the victim got out, she saw that a temporary “no parking” sign had either fallen or been pushed into her car, causing a scratch.

A group of four males were standing by a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck parked next to her. She asked them who kicked over the sign, but nobody answered her. When she asked again, one suspect started yelling at her and called her a “nigga,” she told police.

A second suspect then grabbed her to restrain her, hurting her finger and shoulders in the struggle. Meanwhile, the yelling continued, and the first suspect reached into the truck and pulled out a silver or white semiautomatic handgun. At this point, the witness managed to get the victim free of the second suspect’s grip and pulled her away. As the two ran down the street, at least six shots were fired. The suspects then fled southbound on 10th Ave.

@Lambkidz asked us via Twitter about gunshots near Neumo’s early July 16:

SPD officers found six bullet holes in the passenger side of the victim’s vehicle, along with shell casings. The victim told officers she thought her finger was broken in the struggle and that her shoulders were sore. She declined medical attention.

The witness was gone and, once contacted, refused to offer any information. The victim said she thought she recognized the suspect from somewhere, but couldn’t recall more information.

Dear (racist) a-holes w/ a gun –

Please take your crappy attitudes and gun toting ways back to Belltown or Pioneer Square (or somewhere far away) b/c Cap Hill does not want you.

That is all.

Sincerely,
moi. and us.

Huh? WTF are you talking about? Racist? Where do you see that?

And do you for some reason believe that gun-toting thugs are not specific to capitol hill? Guess again. That is precisely why so many people on the hill legally carry.

Apparently you don’t read the lines that are written very well.
“When she asked again, one suspect started yelling at her and called her a “nigga,” she told police.” Given the situation sounds racist to me.

Thank you “us” for clarifying that for the “i only read between the lines” guy…apparently reading isn’t their strong suit.

Wowowowoooo hold on now. Who was it that pulled out the n-word. Was it:
a) a white guy from B-town,
b) a dog named bill,
c) a gang of black men (one or more black males),
d) the cops, or
e) all the above?
If we are going to distinguish between us good people and “crappy attituds, we simply need more information.

I’m not quite sure why it matters whether the one who let fly the pseudo N-word was black/white/red/yellow/AllOfTheAbove…? It’s still a racially charged word, regardless of who uses it.

Sounds a little fishy. Why wouldn’t the witness offer up any information? And the victim mentioned that she thought she recognized the suspect from somewhere. Sounds like a drug deal went bad and the victim got ripped off.

This seems like a typically CHS-reader e-outrage. Do you actually think the guy who fired the shots is reading this post? What is your motivation for your comment? Do you need to validate to a community that you are angry? I’ve always wondered about the underlying psychology of comments of this type, particularly as they appear more frequently on this site than others. They’re rather useless, simple/dull exhortations that people usually skip over as they’re meaningless as centers of dialog.

Good observation; I agree.
