Capitol Hill’s central park has taken a few jabs in the recent discussion around safety and increased police presence in the open space connecting Broadway to Pike/Pine. Just a reminder that good things happen there all the time.

:)
I spoke to an officer in the park the other day, I see him all the time during the evenings. He walks around and talks to people. It was really nice to see an officer out of the car and walking around. On top of it he had really blue eyes and a great smile. On second thought…maybe a little more time in the park would be good for me.
Thank you for this video. We were all busy dancing and were not able to capture the amazing dance party. There were actually almost 1000 people up on their feet dancing. And thank you to all of Capitol Hill and beyond who came out for all of our Outdoor Cinema: Rock N Roll Fantasy!
My wife and I happened upon this biking home from a date downtown and we had to stay and watch till the end. We were so glad we did, especially after the big spontaneous dance party at the end!
Can’t believe I missed this. What group organized and is it happening again?
Three Dollar Bill Outdoor Cinema organizes these every year. Here’s their website- http://threedollarbillcinema.org/
12hr notice (me) has been organizing the pre-movie DJs/ music. It’s a nice oppty for people to enjoy a picnic/ throwing frisbee/ hoola-hopping before the movie starts. The last 2 years, there’s been a mean/ nasty woman who gets super agitated + calls the cops, lying to them about what’s going on. She apparently thinks that people shouldn’t be enjoying the park with fun music/ movies, even early on weekend summer evenings =/ there always has to be at least 1 bad apple who doesn’t want others enjoying themselves… but the cops are *almost always nice + understanding! =)
