A neighborhood tour with the Raja of Capitol Hill

As many on Capitol Hill remember Brian Fairbrother today, this video interview with the longtime Vivace barista and general manager is making the rounds of Twitter, Facebook and the neighborhood’s social network. It’s a fun celebration of the Capitol Hill Fairbrother loved and a nice reminder of some of things that still hold true and some of the things that have changed (it features Bailey Coy Books, for example). Fairbrother was seriously injured in a bicycle crash last week. His friends and family announced that he would be begin comfort care today and be removed from life support systems.

Brian’s love of Capitol Hill shines through in the video. I didn’t know him personally but saw him at Vivace a number of times and his presence will certainly be missed. His family and friends are in my thoughts.

I “lived” at Vivace for 14 years before I moved away. I saw Brian often and he always had that aura of loving what he was doing. He had a big laugh and it was a pleasure to see him. I extend my deepest sympathy to his family and Vivace. Such a loss is hard to comprehend.
