2011’s Park(ing) Day event was a little quieter on Capitol Hill than in previous years. With the People’s Parking Lot under construction and ring leader Keith Harris selling out and getting a real job (hi Keith!), only a handful of on-street parks were created on the Hill’s streets in 2011. Another limiting factor: this year, you had to pay for your parking spots. This group of friends and “individual activists” came through, however, with a pocket park on Melrose in front of Bauhaus complete with a literal interpretation of a canned grass “yard sale.”
