CHS Pics | Occupy Saturday

Here are images from Capitol Hill freelancer and CHS contributor Suzi Pratt from Saturday’s biggest day of the Occupy Seattle protest yet with numbers climbing over 1,000 participants at one point during the day. We know many of you made it down the Hill to be part of it or at least check the protest out. We know many of you wanted to or thought about it but didn’t go and might be interested in seeing what it looked like. We know some of you, having achieved 1% status, don’t care. Please send our check ($1 million, cashier’s) and we’ll move on to more important topics.

I appreciate the coverage. It’s not about placating to a specific group- the spectrum of the movement is wide, so it’s very relavent and important. It’s good to see the word getting out.. less critism, more legitimacy. Thank you for not dismissing those that wish to actually do something with their time other than bitch about the way things are.

Saturday’s demonstration was very encouraging, especially the diversity, focus, and enthusiasm of its participants. Its broad demographics put the lie to attempts by the mainstream media to denigrate the protests by ridiculing the appearance and age of the demonstrators.

I think the organizers did an excellent job. Good call on letting participants take the stage and tell their personal stories, some of which were quite moving.

I’ll be joining in regularly at Westlake.
