Blotter | Harvard Ave stick-up, Meany teen burglars busted, woman assaults officer with spit

  • Monday night mugging: A man reported being robbed by two teens on Harvard Ave Monday night around 10:30. According to the report on the incident, the man was walking on Harvard Ave E just south of E Thomas when he was approached by two black males who appeared to be in their late teens. One of the teens had a hard object in his pocket that he pressed up against the man and demanded he hand over his wallet and his phone. Fearing that the robber had a gun, the man handed over his stuff. The suspects shoved the victim to the ground and fled on foot west on Thomas. The man went to his nearby apartment and called police but a search of the area came up empty.
  • Sunday burglary arrests: The streets around the Meany School campus at 20th and E Republican were briefly filled with police Sunday afternoon as two teenage burglary suspects were spotted running from the school building after being found by a security employee. The teens fled the school, home to Seattle NOVA alternative high school and the Secondary Bilingual Orientation Center, and were tracked through the neighborhood around the Holy Names Academy by a rapidly deployed contingent of SPD. The teens were found attempting to flee the area and booked into the county’s juvenile detention center. Earlier this month, CHS reported on a failed attempt to steal computers from the campus.
  • “You get back from me or I’m going to kick you in the nuts!” — SPD officers had their hands full with a group they found kicking a garbage can into the street at E Olive Way and Broadway early Saturday morning. The “nuts” quote? That was reportedly said by the cop in this incident. Here’s how it ended: “As Ofc. Michaud was reading her rights   said, “Oh yeah, How about this!” and spit directly into Ofc. Michaud’s mouth. Ofc. Michaud flinched back and immediately began to spit onto the ground. He was transported to HMC for medical treatment. An agency issued spit sock was placed over   head to keep her from assaulting another officer.” The full report is below:

Classy woman right there. I wish all these crust kids would walk back down to Westlake Park where they belong.

That’s precisely why I don’t go out after dark. Sad.

I guess the corner of Harvard and Thomas is one of the darker corners with lots of trees and stuff but I never would have thought I’d get assulted like that here.

I guess I will be walking on Broadway to and from anywhere after dark from now on. It’s a real shame since I’ve grown up in the city and been in this neighborhood for over a decade.

The crappiest thing is that these guys didn’t take anything that would be easy to turn into cash. They took my wallet ($40 bucks), my phone which is a couple years old (not an iPhone) and my bag full of the miniatures I have hand painted myself for playing tabletop wargames at Seattle Wargaming (Great spot on Olive Way by the way!!! Can’t recomend it enough.) There is no way they’ll be able to turn that stuff into cash and so they’ve probably just tossed it in a dumpster someplace.

know how you feel, my car was broken into twice in the past 2 weeks, lost a laptop and several other things. Unlikely they’ll get much for any of it but it’s enough to make me want to punch some of these young, poorly raised punks in the face.

The unnamed officer has been sanctioned with 3 days off without pay for the degrading, albeit colloquial term, “nuts.”
It’s nothing but scrotum from this day forward, boys.

I watched the spitting thing, gross. The cop was super patient and I was surprised the other guys weren’t arrested. People are idiots, both of them deserved to be kicked in the nuts, they were completely ignoring the cop who was making it pretty clear he didn’t want them near him.

The cop trying to get the dirty junkie to calm down was the blue eyed one that is always in the park talking to people. If you smile at him he flashes a smile back that will make you melt.
