The space is currently home to Crescent Down Works. Anne Michelson who owns Crescent Down Works and the building tells us her business has grown to a point where she needs more room so she’s moving the maker of custom down jackets and vests to Pioneer Square. Michelson sent us an email explaining the move and why retail won’t work for her replacement — the storefront part of the building isn’t really for rent:
Crescent Down Works has gotten pretty popular, mostly in Japan and Europe and we need more space. I found a great space in Pioneer Square, almost 3 times the space. Cassandria Blackmore has a gallery in front of the space so retail isn’t appropriate because of the side entry – no street front available. Not sure what will work in here but we will see what comes up. Let us know if you have any ideas.
Two other unique spaces currently available in the neighborhood — in the Odd Fellows building and in the old BMW showroom and garage — are also apparently still in the market for new tenants.
Meanwhile, this entrepreneur has put the long-empty retail space adjacent the Comet to good use.
