Seattle University is mourning two students who died this weekend in separate incidents. Here is the announcement posted Sunday to Facebook:
The SU community is saddened at the loss of two students this weekend, Cam Christian and Taro Kobayashi. Cam was a senior and a member of the baseball team, and Taro was an Albers student pursuing a degree in finance. We offer our deepest condolences and prayers to their families and friends during this difficult time.
CAPS is available for student counseling at 206-296-6090.
There will be a moment of silence before the scheduled 1 p.m. kickoff at the men’s soccer game this afternoon.
Christian died early Sunday morning in a car crash in Priest River, Idaho:
Cameron Christian, 22, was driving westbound, just east of Priest River, when police say he evasively steered off the road for an unknown reason. He reportedly drove through the eastbound lane and off the road.
Christian’s 2003 Toyota Camry overturned. He was killed in the wreck.
The report notes that police say that alcohol was not a factor and that Christian was wearing his seatbelt.
We do not have details at this time regarding Kobayashi though an email sent to campus by the university says the student died Saturday.
