Capitol Hill retailers, bars and restaurants offering Shop the Hill deals

More than 80 Capitol Hill businesses are rallying together this weekend for a shopping event we hope you’ll be a part of if you’re in town this holiday. The full roster for Shop the Hill is here and the map showing all the participating venues is below. The promotion is a no cost effort designed to bring together Capitol Hill’s independent and local businesses in an alternative to big chain Black Friday saturation. Sure, you’ll have to pay for parking if you’re visiting from outside the neighborhood and don’t feel like taking the bus — but it’s cheaper than paying shipping and handling on the Internet and you’ll have access to a showcase of high quality, high integrity and high interesting-ness goods as well as enjoy a few food and drink deals across the Hill.

Here are a few highlights — maps can be found at most participating locations.

  • The Red Balloon Company: “20% off All Barbies, Bruder German Trucks, Cobra Remote Control Helicopters, 2012 Calendars and I Spy Games. Black Friday Only.”

  • Quinn’s: “Beer O’Clock” all weekend! Show 2 receipts from participating businesses and get half price on all draft and select bottled beer.”
  • Flora and Henri: “20% off on full-priced merchandise Black Friday Only. Check out our sale rack all weekend with items up to 80% off.”
  • Veridis: “Sale on clothes for all the holiday parties that lie ahead. 20% off all regularly priced dresses for women, button-up shirts and suiting for men.”
  • Rare Medium Photography: “Show the map to get 15% off purchase of any Polaroid camera.”
  • Le Frock: “15% off Coats and 25% off Dresses, Jewelry, Men’s Shirts, and Ties.”
  • Kaladi Brothers: “Buy One Get One Free on all Coffee and Tea beverages when you show the map!”
  • Gamma Ray Games: Buy one game and get 50% off of a second game of equal or lesser value.
  • Honeyhole: “Bring in a receipt from any participating businesses and receive a free order of fries with any sandwich purchase Black Friday Only. “
  • Frame Central: “35% off any single item (Includes custom framing). Not valid on work in progress, special order items or special framing packages. 25%-70% off selected items. “
  • Marigold and Mint: “10% off anything in the shop.”

Isn’t there free street parking on Friday?

Looking at the stores, most of the deals are not too good and kind of not real incentives.

Tried to find several to buy, not luck.

BUT, great idea.

Alan, free parking, bet, no. Reg. business Friday. Free was Thanks G. Day, holiday.

Capitol Hill's 1%

Fuck the 1% of Capitol Hill. Why should I support any of these bastards if they fight against MY First Amendment rights?

Whom are you speaking of? These local small businesses are not the 1%. Many owners have to work second jobs just to keep their businesses open.

Who is fighting your first amendment right? We (and definitely many of our neighbors) are staunch supporters of OWS and are appalled by the police actions against Occupy Seattle.

Not to mention the fact that these small businesses:

1) actually pay their taxes instead of avoiding them through creative accounting.

2) Hire locals who then spread their money through the community.

3) Typically pay themselves last – after paying rent, bills, taxes, employee pay, and the cost of the goods they sell.

If you had ever owned or operated a small shop you’d know they ARE the 99%!
