SCCC’s water muddied by Capitol Hill light rail dirt, Big Media smells weed, BO

With big media concerned about marijuana use at the Occupy Seattle camp near the school’s daycare playground — “I’m smelling pot right now” — Seattle Central also might want to be careful about the water those kids are drinking.

Here’s a message posted to SCCC’s Facebook page earlier this week titled WATER SITUATION:

Less than 24 hours later, the water was reportedly back to normal after whatever happened with Sound Transit’s contractors. We’re checking with the agency about the situation.

But the lack of water may have helped to explain these camp conditions reported by a KOMO “communities reporter” at the scene on Thursday:

@jillblocker has since deleted the colorful Tweet. And we’re certain that the Occupy Seattle campers are now fully bathed.

  1. Two questions:

    1. How does dirt get into pipes? Were the pipes breached?

    2. Does this affect nearby neighbors of SCCC? Our water looks clean…

  2. Nope, still no weed or BO smell. The smell of hay and crushed leaves is strong right now, though. And whatever is being tempura’d across the street (or maybe I’m so hungry for tempura…).

I love the groupthink, though. Boss doesn’t like Occupy Seattle, therefore you start to not like Occupy Seattle and eventually end up making tweets from across the street assuming they’ll be correct because, hey, if the boss says it’s true it MUST be true!

  3. I walked through and smelled weed too! But, it was only about as thick as anywhere else on Capitol Hill. It’s like going to one part of the waterfront and saying it smells like fish.

More concerning was the anarchist who was sticking his finger to authority by pissing on the steps in the morning instead of using the port-a-potty. But again, I saw some non-protesters doing the same thing during daylight a half-block away. Par for the CH course.

#truthfully more concerning was the Big Media KC Daylighter floodlights on the encampment at 6am yesterday, when they weren’t even filming. #rude

  4. every area the protesters set up camp in wreaks of BO and weed. it doesn’t take a reporter to figure that out- or a blogger to repost a story and tweets. it’s too bad she deleted the “colorful” tweet. i’m all for the cause, but at least in other cities they spray the campgrounds with suds and water.

  5. To all the people that come and say that it is fine for the protesters to be there next to the kids smoking pot or drinking. My kid goes there and it sucks that he can not go out and play. The tarps do not stop the pot, and wont stop someone from reaching over and taking a kid. And for that reason the teachers keep them in side. People need to think about the bigger situation here the kids safety is more important than any stupid protest. Occupy has became a new tent city or homeless people there is a lot of other places they can go.

And for the water ya that part sucks but that’s not even the worst part the school is closing down the daycare for budget cuts the funny part it the parents pay for the kid to attend the daycare so there closing down a self supporting daycare.
