In Commune vintage shop moves in on 12th Ave

We received an email about a new business on 12th Ave in one of those places where we have always kind of wondered exactly what was going on in there. More about what was going on in a bit -- first, here's Sara Hofmann on her new Capitol Hill vintage boutique, In Commune:

Hello CHS / jseattle,

I am a CHS reader and I have a tip...

My name is Sara, I live here on the Hill, and I just opened a shop called IN COMMUNE. Saturday afternoon was our first day. We have vintage and modern clothing for women and children + for the home- ceramics, wood, textiles...   

A handful of men's things, as well. 

We are at 1510 12th Ave, between Pike and Pine, across from the Film Forum.

We are open:
Wednesday + Thursday  3-7
Friday + Saturday  11-7
Sunday 12 - 5

I think I remember you referring to your little one (ones?)... come on by and say Hi!

Yay for CHS readers creating new things in the neighborhood *and* creating news tips. We like it.

CHS stopped by In Commune on Thursday and found Hofmann and her assistant Asa hard at work coloring in the shop. 

To place it for you, 1510 12th Ave is in a space you either completely missed or just wondered what was happening behind the covered windows next to the jumble of the Seattle Trading Post. Hofmann said a friend had been using the space for years as a work-live space but moved out of town for another opportunity and left the space to Hofmann. She has put muscle into overhauling the space including exposing a fantastic old hardwood floor.

Hofmann doesn't yet have a website and she says she won't do Facebook. For now, CHS will have to do as the one place on the Internet that knows In Commune exists. Thanks for the news tip.
