‘A Bite of Melrose Market’ — Shops to showcase offerings, hand out free samples

Here’s a little Monday tidbit to give you some inspiration for making it through the coming week. The shopkeepers of the locavore festival of delights that is the Melrose Market are rallying together next Sunday for a day of free samples and deals. Here’s the scoop from one of the cheesier members of the group:

Hey CHS – this is kind of last minute so we don’t have a flyer yet, but on Sunday 12/18 from 2-6 all of us in the Melrose Market will be offering samples – ham from Rain Shadow Meats, cheese from Calf & Kid, soda from Homegrown, jam from Marigold & Mint, and bread from Sitka & Spruce.  Butter Home will have a discount since they don’t sell food, and most of us will have some specials going. Please spread the word! thanks much,

Sheri LaVigne
The Calf and Kid

For the peanut gallery, cue the “Free samples? Now I can afford that place.” For the rest of us, it should be a nice pairing with the final day of the season at the Broadway farmers market.

Sheri and her staff are so amazing. She’s like..a cheeze wizard. She always has the most delicious selection and is happy to help you with her totally impressive cheese lore. Go! Go! GO!

And Rainshadow…it’s such a boon to us here on the hill to have an actual real live BUTCHER, and not just some kid standing behind a counter who’s job is ‘meat clerk.’ Russ and his staff are ninjas.
