Gang units were called to the scene to investigate a shooting near Seattle University and 12th and Jefferson just after midnight.
Police and medics responded to the reported shooting at 12:12a and found a 20-year-old 25-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his leg.
SPD gang units were called in to assist with the investigation. The area is near Waid’s nightclub which was hosting a benefit party Friday night.
The blocks around Seattle University seem especially unsafe these days. Hardly a week goes by when there isn’t some shooting or mugging there.
Why?
The Catholic thugs are shooting and mugging everyone.
Oh, SeattleSeven that’s naughty. But seriously. WTF is going on on Capitol Hill? In the City of Seattle? And more importantly WTF are are elected officials and police department doing about the violence, the rampant increase in tagging, and the growing restlessness that Cap Hill is a lawless unpleasant place to live anymore. (Ok,the last part is my own editorializing but I sort of feel that way.) And we, as citizens, what can we do to help?
Two more weeks and I’m out of this shit hole of a neighborhood once and for all. Now, if I can just manage to not get mugged before then…
Look forward to you telling us about your move several more times and telling us about it more after you have moved. Please keep us posted.
@harvardave I think being passive aggressive is more neurotic than admitting what is justifiably a real concern and desire to move out.
I don’t know if you are part of Capitol Hill or not but I’ve seen comments like this on crime news all over the city. I assume you are either somebody who lives on Capitol Hill and hates your sorry life here or you live someplace like Bellevue and hate your sorry life there but have some kind of hate for a real city. Either way, there is nobody dumb enough to read comments like yours and think “oh shit I better move.” But keep trying.
The irony is you are discrediting yourself…
As a concerned resident, I’ve been thinking about starting a safety patrol: non descript group walking high crime areas, spotting and reporting crime. I think all concerned capitol hill residents should consider organizing their own neighborhood crime watch. It’s important for everyone to understand that capitol hill, in addition to its nightlife and its transient student population, comprises a large group of permanent resident seeking security and safety.
I am for it!
Although I am more in the CD than the hill.
What’s up with all the gang-bangers walking around the hill lately, I mean the ones with their pants belted around their thighs and their boxers hanging out, did they closedown Rainer-Valley?
Yes, it’s gotten pretty bad. It’s because they know hipsters are easy prey.
I’ve just moved to Washington from Kansas City and i must say…I feel very safe walking around CH at night. It’s almost like I’m in heaven compared to where I’m from (KC & San Antonio). The police don’t hate me, and I like that.
CH has alot of litter, puke, and shit on the sidewalks, but I can overlook that.
The people aren’t very friendly, but I can overlook that.
I’m happy to be here…should have brought a friend with me, tho.
What I do hate to see so much of…designer breeder dogs…thought that shit was over.
Try A Shelter.
Yes, and especially because almost everyone is using an expensive digital device as they walk down the street. It’s like bait for a fish.
