Reported E Pike gay taunt sparks hate crime investigation

Police detectives are investigating a reported hate crime after a Thursday night incident on Capitol Hill in which a man said he was threatened by a group because he is gay.

According to police, the victim said he was in the parking lot above QFC at Pike and Broadway on Thursday night around 8:30 when three males and a female began shouting “inappropriate” things at him and trying to start a fight.

“Don’t be staring at my boyfriend you AIDS infected faggot,” one of the suspects allegedly yelled.

The victim told police he took a defensive stance and the suspects backed off. The victim then walked a short distance away and called police to report the situation. As police arrived, SPD says one of the suspects approached and was identified by the victim.

Police placed the man under arrest and found he was carrying an air pistol and alleged drug dealing paraphernalia including a scale and containers with drug residue.

The man was arrested and booked for investigation of malicious harassment.

Following the arrest as the victim was riding the bus, he spotted the female from the group and called police. She also was arrested and booked for the hate crime investigation.

Also so happy the victim took action. And Kutos to spd for quick action.
Happy they are spending the night in jail. We do not need this crap any place today.

CHS You removed my comment because you don’t think Lesbian And Gay American Taxpayers should protect themselves with guns? I have to assume this, because you offer no communication.

Should you continue to be cowards, You will forever be confined to Capitol Hill.

Capitol Hill is becoming really unfun w/ the B&T crowd. Lots of little back dresses and drunk girls teetering on high heels..that brings the testosterone filled morons up looking for ass and trouble. I remember the good ol’ days when it was just gay and fun w/out a care.

Hate the slimy feel of that whole complex. Every time I got there for one reason or another there’s always scumbags about, especially on the west side or the stairs. Owners really need to enforce no trespass no loitering there and get the fleas off the dog. Getting to be bartertown there, all we need is a old bald guy to check weapons at the Q.

What evidence do you have that the perps were not from, say, Capitol Hill or the CD? There are anti-gay creeps in our midst too, sorry to say.

If you really advocated that the victim use a gun in this situation, then that is illegal vigilantism, and jseattle is entirely right to remove your post.

What if any of the four perps had a gun? What would have happened then? Answer…some dead people.
