The CHS Soup Swap continues — Win a cool cookbook

As part of our Capitol Hill celebration of Soup Swap culture, we have been offered the opportunity to give away a copy of Soup & Bread Cookbook: Building Community One Pot at at Time. All you need to do to win is tell us about your favorite soup on Capitol Hill in the comments. We’ll draw a random winner Sunday night at 9p Seattle Soup Time.

But if I *had* to pick one, Michael Congdon’s Pecan Soup is pretty amazing.

The geoduck chowder at Taylor Shellfish at Melrose Market. There’s nothing quite like eyeballing the obscene creature while you scarf down its chopped up, well-seasoned brethren.

Pork/hominy Pozole served up with radish, onion, cilantro, lime and a couple of tortillas.Reminds me of home in Sunny So-Cal.

Is there any competition? Even as a soup superfan (souperfan?) there is one clear winner for me: the french onion soup at Café Presse.

The French onion soup from Cafe Presse- I don’t know if it is their own recipe or the one from Julia Child. The secret is in the fond, or deglazing the onions once they have carmelized. It is a simple soup to make, but everyone in your apartment bldg. will smell what you are making, especially if you slow cook the onions for several hours.
Better to have it out.
