Happy Valentine’s Day, Capitol Hill? Governor can sign gay marriage bill next week

With Washington’s House of Representatives following the Senate’s lead and handily passing the state gay marriage bill in a Wednesday vote, Governor Chris Gregoire could be in line for a Valentine’s Day signing ceremony. Publicola quotes Capitol Hill Rep Jamie Pedersen as saying “he wanted his four children to know that ‘their daddy and their papa’ had entered into a marriage—’the name that society gives to the relationship that society values most.'”

The Washington United for Marriage coalition has an online petition to thank the governor for signing the bill into law here.
