Thanks to neighbor Daniel for the tip on the arrest
- : A man carrying a pellet gun, a knife, and alleged drug paraphernalia and “burglar tools” had some bad timing Sunday morning. Police were in their cruiser getting ready to leave after talking to a person at a building in the 600 block of Belmont Ave E about complaints of increased car prowls in the building’s garage when a person who doesn’t live in the building but had recently been seen inside happened to walk by. A person from the building pointed him out and the officers approached the man:
Officers also found a suspected meth pipe and containers with residue believed to be methamphetamine.
The suspect was booked into jail for investigation of burglary and drug possession.
- The report doesn’t indicate why a woman waited until this week to report an October burglary in which she says more than $20,000 worth of goods were stolen from her 15th Ave E home. According to the report, the victim told police her home was broken into in mid-October and stripped. The woman said the unknown burglar took her “entire wardrobe” and “all of the artwork on the walls” as well as an item from her desk redacted from the SPD report. The report notes the victim was also burglarized in 2010. The total value reported in this theft was $20,000 to $30,000 the woman said.
- : Cops were called to a building in the 1700 block of Melrose Ave E late Monday night to investigate a car prowl in a secured garage. The crime wasn’t especially notable except for the woman’s complaint that prowls at the building had increased in frequency recently.
- : A $700 bike was ripped off from a secure parking garage in the 100 block of Bellevue Ave E Monday morning. The thief cut a chain securing the bike, the report notes.
- Finally, we admit this Saturday night incident happend well off the Hill down on Minor Ave just on the other side of I-5 but, hey, you gotta know your neighbors:
“Abowl of Spaghetti-Os was thrown across the room by ————breaking the bowl”
Isn’t that an act pf humanitarian kindness?
I’m not excusing excessive Police force, but when officers have to respond to idiotic calls like this, is it any wonder some snap?
I live in the 700 block of Belmont and we have been having prowlers every week. Last week a strange woman followed a visitor into our building and stole my neighbor’s packages, and was snooping around each floor looking for more. My car was also stolen in January from this location.
If you see anything suspicious- there is a good chance it might be! Help keep watch in our I-5 Shores neighborhood, pretty please.
Our car was broken into in the 400 block of Belmont Ave. E. last month. $2200 damage.
All along the 1-5 Shores the alleys have been filled with dumpster diving/car prowling folks. Try not to walk alone down the alleys for access to your building if possible they are out at all hours and don’t seem concerned at all by people seeing what they do and to me that means they won’t hold back to attack or rob us too.
yum
Our building on Olive Street and 12 just had a prowler using a stolen opener to get in. They caught her though. I’d like to see more follow up on what happens to these prowlers after they’re caught. Given the rates, it seems like its catch and release.
