On the List | Art Walk, Cheap Beer & Prose, BottleNeck birthday, IPhoneography, 520 closed +24 more

Here is the sad truth. You aren’t going to be able to see the aurora borealis from Capitol Hill. But you can check out the celestial events at the monthly Blitz! Capitol Hill Arts Walk. Details on tonight’s walk and things to do for the rest of the weekend, below. Add your Capitol Hill events to the free(!) CHS Calendar here.

March Blitz!
We suggest starting your March tour of the second Thursday tradition at the base of the Hill at Faire Gallery. Its their birthday month, after all. With 42 contributing local organizations, the Blitz! list promises a hefty, art saturated hike. View the entire venue list here. Here are a few highlights. THE HUNDREDTH QUILT – LUKE HAYNES at Vermillion Art Gallery and Bar 6P
Join Vermillion Art Gallery in celebrating Luke Haynes first retrospective. Haynes creates large scale quilts that incorporate the fabric into the composition. The canvas and the subject matter become symbiotic as each bring their own story to the work. Questioning the once feminine gendered art of quilt-making, Haynes re appropriates this media at times by incorporating stereotypically masculine subject matter. Haynes work finds its roots in Southern American culture, yet expands beyond in subject matter, to incorporate modern themes.

Behind the Scenes / Off the Path: Richard Busch at Ghost Gallery 5P
Do you like music? Specifically Mick Jagger or Joe Cocker? Check out D.C. based photographer Richard Busch. His black and white photography documents moments in rock history. Busch has been featured in big name publications such as LIFE, and The New York Times. The show goes on until April 9th, and is also available online for your visual pleasure , but if you’re in walking distance, don’t be a slacker.

GRAMMY Electronic Mixer feat. NATASHA KMETO, 214, SEAN MAJORS & NORDIC SOUL at Electric Tea Garden 6P
Put on by those guys at Decibel, TRASHED, ETG and The PNW Chapter of The Recording Academy, GRAMMY is a treat for those interested in music of the electronic persuasion. Not only that, but ETG is also providing a sign up table for the PNW Chapter for the Recording Academy, door prizes, live visual art by TRACER VISUALS, as well as a chance to meet and mingle with music professionals over free drinks. Say what? How could this not be a good idea?
