The finalists for the Seattle Public Schools superintendent job have been announced. The details from SPS, what the Seattle Times had to say about the candidates and some coverage — and non-coverage — from the candidates’ hometown news outlets, below.

School Board President Michael DeBell said he is happy with the finalists.

“We have three sitting superintendents who have all shown some success in improving academic outcomes in their district,” he said. “They generally are experienced, ranging from 8 to 15 years of superintendent experience, and I think they fit the criteria that we developed with public input pretty well.”

About 40 people applied for the job, which pays $225,000 a year, DeBell said.

Although it was a national search, the board purposefully focused on the West Coast, he said.

“The West Coast — California, Oregon and Washington — have a lot of common in terms of challenges in schools,” he said.

  • The Contra Costa Times points out that candidate Enoch is seeking the Seattle job as he prepares to retire from his San Ramon role.
  • The Statesman Journal manages to not say much about Husk’s performance leading Salem-Keizer schools.
  • The Orange County Register hadn’t yet bothered to post about Banda’s possible departure as of Thursday night.
  • Here’s the full statement on the candidates and what happens next in the hiring process sent out by Seattle Public Schools:
