Seattle mayor on Capitol Hill — again — for town hall meeting

Mayor Mike McGinn finds himself again on Capitol Hill this week, this time for a “town hall” style meeting at Seattle Central Community College Tuesday night. McGinn went on a walking tour and attended a community meeting in lower Pike/Pine two weeks ago. That meeting drew a large, passionate crowd as people came out to discuss the planned development of a block of E Pine. The mayor might find things to be an easier go this week as CHS reported Bauhaus has a deal to return to Pine at Melrose after the new building is complete. For many, however, the issue will still be top of mind. More than 700 people have signed this petition to show support for the Melrose and Pinevue buildings the development will replace. You can also expect questions about the Regulatory Reform package slated to come in front of a City Council committee later this week.
