A package containing a stack of fake driver’s licenses intercepted by the FBI has landed some Seattle University students in trouble, campus newspaper The Spectator reports:

The FBI notified Public Safety when Homeland Security intercepted a mass shipment of fake IDs that was addressed to a single student living in Campion Hall. The students involved were then notified by email that the package had been discovered and that they were implicated in the process.

Students caught with fake IDs could face federal fraud charges and fines upwards of $1,000.

The students also faced punishment at the school level:

After the hearings, each student was given a sanction letter directing them to submit “a written review of three journal articles on the topic of identity theft and fraud on college campuses.” They were also charged a fine of $150 and put on academic probation until September 2012.
