Karam’s restaurant — but not the garlic sauce — says goodbye to 15th Ave E

When someone owns the Internet domain garlicsauce.com you pretty much know their garlic sauce must be pretty special. Karam’s sauce isn’t going anywhere but the Lebanese restaurant tucked in next to the Bagel Deli above the dance studio on 15th Ave E will open its doors to the public for one last time later this month.

If you’re one of the many who would say, “Oh, I’ve never even been in there,” here’s your chance.

In the meantime, the sauce business continues. You might recognize the photo of Anis Karam’s mother on the bottle from the shelf of your favorite Seattle felafel provider. As this 2002 Seattle PI write-up attests, the garlic sauce has a large and devoted following. Apparently the sauce business will continue on 15th Ave E. But if you want to try the food of the people who create it, you’ll need to stop by before June 16th.

Twenty-five years has passed, the lease was up, and it was time to make a decision.

And what a difficult decision it has been.  On June 16, 2012 we will be opening our doors for the last time.  It has been an amazing 25 years of celebrating with you!  Between your first dates, your wedding receptions, your anniversaries, your birthdays to the celebration of the birth of your children and to birthday’s of your grandchildren.  We sincerely thank you for including us in the celebrations of your lives.  You have given us so many beautiful memories.  When we first opened our doors on July 15, 1987 we had no idea we would meet so many wonderful people.  We will sincerely miss each and every one of you.  You will forever be in our hearts.

Here’s to you and to new beginnings.  Thank you!

Our restaurant will be closing, however we will continue to make and distribute our products (Garlic Sauce, Tahini Garlic Sauce, Karamage, Hummos, Baba Ghannouj and Falafil wraps).  Stores that carry our Garlic Sauce and most other products are listed on our website at http://www.garlicsauce.com/Where_Can_I_Find_It_.html

Sincerely,
Anis and Julie Karam

The first time I went to Karim’s was to buy their YUMMY hummus for a party. The owner actually filled a beautiful platter with hummus, garnished it w/ parsley and paprika, handed it to me & said “Bring the plate back when it is convenient.” Wonderful, wonderful people and great neighbors to the community. I’m so sorry I did not support them even more.
