Planned Parenthood president part of Capitol Hill Sex-Ed Block Party

Saturday, Planned Parenthood is holding a Sex-Ed Block Party on Capitol Hill to celebrate 20 years of  advocacy in the community. The event is being held atthe Planned Parenthood on E. Madison and requires registration to attend.

Cecile Richards, President of Planned Parenthood, will attend the event which includes music performances, workshops, a raffle, condom relay (not sure what that is, but it sounds interesting!) and more.

The event celebrates 20 years of the Teen Council in Washington, a group for high school sophomores-seniors who learn about the importance of sexual health from Planned Parenthood professionals. They regularly make presentations at local middle and high schools covering topics from violence in dating to STDs. The council participates in weekly meetings to stay informed on the issues affecting teens, and attend a Teen Lobby Day in Olympia.

More than 400 alumni of the program are expected to attend Saturday’s event.
