Here’s the latest from the East Precinct’s activity on Capitol Hill.

• 13th Ave burglar: Police tracked down one suspect in a 1600 block 13th Ave burglary early Saturday morning after his victim saw the man climb from her window with her laptop. Police were called to the scene shortly after the burglary was reported around 7a and found a man matching the suspect description attempting to flee the area after jumping off his bicycle to run away from police. We’lll have more on the suspect soon.
• Broadway/Pike food truck robbery: A food truck operator called police to the northwest corner of Broadway and Pike late Friday night to report that a man in a red flannel shirt had climbed inside the vehicle and tried to rob him:

According to the report on the incident, there have ben several reports in the area involving a man fitting the suspect’s description. The report notes that a search of the area was not successful.

• Red flannel, silver revolver: Whomever this red-shirted fella is, he sounds like trouble. Here’s a report from early Friday morning around 2:45a at Broadway and Pine:
• Pike/Pine broken tooth assault: Police found a man near E Pike and 11th early last Saturday morning in rather terrible condition:

• Broken window came with strange message: Jamie Lutton at Twice Sold Tales tells us recent damage to her store was related to a rather strange beef. She says a pipe thrown through her window last month came with a note slide under the door. According to Lutton, the note — in apparent female handwriting — said the writer did not like the book shop owner’s hair.
• More Capitol Hill burglaries: There was another flurry of reported burglaries around the Hill in the past 36 hours according to SPD incident data. We noted a possible spike in activity in our previous blotter update, also. We’ve got a few questions out to East Precinct about the situation and will update when we hear back. UPDATE: A rep from East Precinct said that they’re aware of daily fluctuations in reports but that recent trends show residential burglary is in sharp decline across the Hill — down 22% vs. this time in 2011 according to the data the precinct uses to make tactical deployment decisions. Commercial burglaries are less common but occurring at about the same rate as 2011. The biggest thing to do to help besides making sure doors are deadbolted, windows are latched and valuables are squirreled away, is call 911 immediately if you see something happening in your neighborhood.
• How about the court side of things? Reporting on what happens after an arrest is, well, hard. That’s why you don’t see a lot of it done at large media outlets — and why CHS is sometimes scrambling to keep up with cases that can drag out for weeks and months. We’ll have an update soon about some of the latest Capitol Hill-related criminal proceedings.
