Plan for Elegant Cooking school baking in new 13th and Madison building

CHS has le goods on a new commercial tenant in one of the Hill’s latest mixed-use developments — and, believe it or not, it’s not a bank or a restaurant. Welcome Eastside exchange student Elegant Cooking to Capitol Hill’s Citizen Apartments building.

Here’s what Muriel-Marguerite Foucher’s creation will be up to:

Paris’ loss is Seattle’s gain, because since moving to the Pacific Northwest, Muriel-Marguerite has been busy preparing to open a Seattle version of the cooking school she established in Paris on Capitol Hill in late 2012. The combined cooking school and French boutique will host cooking classes and sell a collection of the latest Parisian products including clothing, jewelry, home items and cookware.

We’re told the combined cooking school and French boutique will be a evolution of the cooking school Foucher owned and operated for 10 years in Paris before moving to Seattle’s Eastside. She also operates Paris Eastside from that side of the lake.

After DPD signed off on the Capitol Hill project earlier this summer, the new shop and cooking school is planned to open at 13th and Madison later this year.

The school will host a variety of classes including “classic French cooking classes for adults,” and “healthy and fun intro to cooking classes for kids.”
