Yancy Noll memorial planned for Capitol Hill — Investigation continues

(Images: Yancy Noll Memorial Page via Facebook)

As police continue to search for the person who shot Yancy Noll to death Friday night just blocks from his North Seattle apartment, friends and coworkers are planning a Capitol HIll memorial for the Broadway Market QFC wine steward. From B in the CHS comments:

I just wanted to let everyone following this to know that there will be a remembrance get together this coming Saturday, September 8, at The Deluxe, from 3-9 in the back pool room area. Everyone is welcome. Please join us to celebrate the life of this wonderful man. Together we can begin to heal.

Friends and family are also contributing to a memorial page on Facebook — the source of the photographs of Noll used on this post. Flowers and remembrances are also being left near the intersection where Noll was shot.

Homicide detectives continue to seek information about the driver of a silver BMW convertible who sped away from a Ravenna-area intersection Friday night after Noll was shot several times. The original suspect description was a white male in his late 20s to 30s with dark hair. Detectives now say the driver was possibly white or Asian. Police described the attack as a “road rage” incident later this weekend as more details about the suspect vehicle were released.

A police spokesperson wouldn’t say more at this time about what detectives believe lead to the murder saying only that the road rage motive “is based on preliminary investigation by our homicide detectives.” The full SPD report on the incident was not yet available for release.

Noll began working as the Broadway Market QFC wine steward in August 2010. He turned 43 last spring.

I can’t believe the amount of violence that has taken place in Seattle this past year. Family, Friends, Co-workers, so many people touched by something that was so vicious of a crime. Like tossing a pebble in the water the amount of people that a crime like this touches is unbelievable. I’m a sister who lost a sister to a violent crime in 2000. The pain that people are going through is something you don’t want anyone to ever feel. The huge impact of dealing with something like this takes years to overcome, and for some people, they are never able to move past it. It will take a little time, but eventually this person will be caught, but it will never change the loss of the person you cared for and loved. Having this person off the streets so no one else goes through this will bring some closure, but, it still leaves you to deal with something you did not ever think would touch your life, something you did not choose, an angry out of control individual chose your emotional outcome. Every time I read about the latest bought of violence in Seattle I’m transported back to the day I lost my sister. I hurt for the people that are hurting from this tragedy. Because I know what you will be forced to deal with in the coming years that is more painful than I can share. My heart goes out to the family, friends and co-workers of Yancy. Do something positive for your community, make a difference in someone’s life, try to replace hate with something powerful, and inject some good will into our community. Every time I do something to uplift someone’s burden, I become stronger and better for the people I love and the strangers I touch. RIP Yancy! And SPD, get that SOB behind bars!

Doing a little digging…Seattle had a drive-by on someone who Refused to drag-race back in June. Listen to the report- “SILVER BMW” – I will call the tip line on this one – sounds like with all these shootings going on it might be an easy oversight – here is the link:

Memories I have of a teenage boy in Anchorage ~ The door bell would ring on a friday night in the mid 1980s and when we opened the door there stood handsome smiling Yancy with his good buddy Thomas. They had come to pick up our daughter Tasha for a fun night out after the school week had ended at Dimond High. Yancy always impressed us the parents with his gentleman manners and was always an upbeat happy guy. He would take a few minutes to play with Tashas little brother Dax before they headed out the door. We knew Tasha was in good company on those outings. Yancy has been in our hearts and minds all thru the yrs especially after he moved to Seatttle from Alaska. I checked out Yancys facebook often to see what mtn he was climbing next. Tasha stayed in touch with Yancy since high school yrs & we the Vallejo family were heartbroken to hear of his tragic death. Yancy taught others to live their lives to the fullest and he inspired us all.
