Capitol Hill photographers, help Wikipedia fill in Seattle’s missing images

Community driven. Wide-ranging. Dynamic. Free. Is there a better, higher use for the Internet than Wikipedia? No there is not. The super wiki is gearing up for its Wikipedia Takes Your City effort and a group of organizers and volunteers are meeting Saturday on Capitol Hill to discuss the Seattle strategy:

Wikipedia Takes Your City is a one-day wiki scavenger hunt and free content photography contest conducted in a particular locale, where participants compete to take photographs of as many local sights as possible for Wikipedia articles where they are needed. A dedicated tool for facilitating Wikipedia Takes Your City events has been developed on the toolserver: Wikimedia Photo Scavenger Hunts.

The Seattle meet-up is slated for Saturday, September 15th at  9a at Oddfellows. Or, as the highly accurate encyclopedia insists on calling it, Oddfellows Cafe + Bar.

it’s been a slow process ….colonization… gentrification… but now our city is wonderful and we all live together holding hands.
