Blotter | Police swarm Madison garage looking for burglar

CHS will be a little more quiet than usual this holiday weekend but — as always! — we’re here and ready to respond when news breaks. If you see/hear something, let us know — [email protected], via Twitter @jseattle or call/txt (206) 399-5959.

  • Madison garage burglary: Police swarmed the area around E Madison’s Callahan’s Auto just before midnight Thanksgiving night to set up containment after a report that somebody had broken into the service garage. As patrol cars blocked part of eastbound  Madison near 14th and set up a perimeter, officers made their way inside the building and contacted an individual, according to police radio. We’ll check to find out if that person was ultimately arrested but the preliminary report on the incident indicates there were signs of forced entry at the family owned business at 1319 E Madison.

  • 13th/Jeff gunpoint robbery reported: A man told police he was robbed at gunpoint early last Sunday morning near 13th and Jefferson as he walked home from a night club:
  • Bellevue burglar breaks in while roommate sleeps: A woman awoke last Thursday morning to find a man standing in her 300 block Bellevue Ave E bedroom who quickly ran off — with nearly $4,000 in electronics. According to the report, the woman woke up to find the man who told her he was looking for someone before quickly exiting the building. A check of the woman’s residence revealed the woman and her roommate’s laptops and a camera had been ripped-off. The suspect as described as a black male in his 20s, around 6′ tall with a muscular build and “big pronounced eyes.” He was wearing a black rain “North Face” type jacket, baggy blue jeans and had a black backpack at the time of the crime. A search of the area came up empty.
  • Would-be burglar busts down Harvard Ave E door: In another case of an occupied burglary attempt in the area, an exchange student living near Seattle Central reported a startling break-in attempt last Thursday night just after 8:30 PM on Harvard Ave E:
  • Bellevue Ave E burglar chase: Police have released more information in last Friday’s chase of a suspected burglar that sent the man on a wild, ill-advised leap and dash across I-5 traffic. Here’s the narrative from the SPD report with details of the homeowner who encountered the suspect and forced him to drop stolen property at gunpoint before the wild chase. The last we spoke with SPD about the incident, the suspect had still not been released from the hospital to be booked into jail.
  • Man robbed of bag while fighting for phone: A man told police he was fighting to get his phone back from a group of suspects in the 1100 block of E Union when he was also robbed of his bag containing an iPad and school books late last Wednesday night. The suspects were not found in the 11:30 PM, November 14th robbery.

The SPD narrative for the I-5 jumper contains a suspect’s name that isn’t blocked out.
