Velocity Dance Center’s Real/Time festival kicks off this weekend. The SunBreak’s coverage of the fest is much more informed than anything we could write (“It’s not at all an accident that so much of the dance reads like Lynch’s movie”)  so check out their  preview and make plans accordingly — many events have or will sell out.

Stevens Elementary’s Mega Weekend has holiday greens, pancakes, music, and books  this weekend: Tree & Wreath Sale Friday 6-8p and Saturday 9a -2p; and  a pancake breakfast 8:30-10:30a, a book fair 9a – 12p, and a student concert 10 – 10:45a on Saturday.

Thursday, December 6th

  • Gift-wrapping party needs volunteers at Miller Community Center, 4 – 9p.

  • Garfield High School’s Music Revue starts Thursday and continues through Saturday. “Garfield’s esteemed concert, treble, and jazz choruses  perform a seven-part Ave Maria, an acapella version of Linus & Lucy, our signature sexy all-male piece, some slightly less-sexy Christmas dancing, and WAY MORE!”
  • JKPOP! Discover what the people who live in the future are dancing. to  Gangnam Style is the tip of the iceberg, gaijin. Barboza, 9p.
  • Velocity is Burning, a kooky-queer cabaret to celebrate the holiday season. Velocity Dance Center (1621 12th Ave), 8p. 
  • Slowpøke DJs host Everything Electric, with all vinyl and beats at 120 per minute or less. Electric Tea Garden (1402 E Pike St), 10p.

  • The rescued snowy owl will be released into the wilds of Volunteer Park. 11a.

  • Jenga Thunderdome! an open tournament at Central Cinema, 12 – 5p. 
  • Seth Casteel shares award winning photographs and talk about his work as a pet photographer. His Underwater Dogs photographs are a global phenomenon and supremely awesome. 5p
