CHS reported on the recent addition of some improvements to 12th Ave that will bring increased pedestrian — and driver — safety to the busy street thanks to the work of a group of Capitol Hill Community Council members and neighbors.
Friday night, the group toasted one of the new crosswalks with a little party near 12th and E Howell. Happy crosswalking!
THIS is true community engagement. These folks have done their homework, plowed through beuracracy and done the hard work to do something great for their neighborhood. Great work!
concrete work and a concrete success – Thanks to Mike Kent and the 12th AVenue Pedestrian Avenue Safety Committee
…and no one honked. Seattle drivers may not like to stop for peds, but they can be pleasantly patient at other times.
Nice work everyone!
Alex Garland is an awesome photographer!
Way to go, people.
Bravo! It works and so important!
I was wondering exactly that. I think Seattle folks generally have patience when it looks like there’s a reason for the delay (“look, there’s a photographer – it must be a fashion shoot or a news story or an Abbey Road album cover or something”). But if it looks like you’re just fucking around and wasting their time for your own self-indulgence…
