CHS writer named to Seattle landmark board

When the Melrose Building and the Pinevue Apartments come before the Seattle Landmark Preservation Board next week, CHS will have a man on the inside.

Fat lot of good it will do us.

Robert Ketcherside, the historian and writer behind the popular Re:Take series, had his appointment to the board approved by City Council earlier this year and took his first vote with the board last week.

Ketcherside says any CHS readers hoping for activism via these pages or on the board will be disappointed — he won’t be writing about any of the buildings coming in front of the board and won’t be serving as an advocate for potential Capitol Hill landmarks. Instead, he’ll be there to do his job as a historian. Boring, right?

Congratulations, Rob. Don’t expect us to pull any punches if the board makes wacky decisions.

Huge Rob Ketcherside fan over here. The board is lucky to have him.

I am a tech program manager at EMC Isilon in Pioneer Square and we are hiring.

Also, I will still be writing for CHS, just not about potential landmarks before the board.

I’ve had fun exploring the rich, unknown early history of our neighborhoods. Thanks for all of your support!
