Standoff with suicidal man in front of East Precinct ends in best way possible

Seattle Police were able to stop a suicidal man armed with a knife from harming himself in a tense standoff in the street in front of the East Precinct early Friday morning.

According to SPD, the man was found in the middle of 12th Ave outside the precinct around 4 AM threatening to harm himself and at times appearing as if he might charge the several officers who responded to the scene.

A CHS reader who lives nearby said approximately 15 officers had their guns drawn on the man during the standoff. “After about 15 minutes, he sunk to the ground and passed out,” the eyewitness writes. “Officers used shields to approach him and cuffed him.”

The man was treated for a self-inflicted cut and taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

  1. stand of with officers ended with:
    Dance party!
    Ice cream social
    steamy make-out session
    community gardening
    puppy parade
    free BBQ
    flash mob musical
    cash giveaway
The second coming of Johnny Cash

  2. “fair”?
Is it supposed to be “fair”?
Why? To give the guy a sporting chance to kill a cop? Is that a requirement?

And did you miss the part about it being right in front of the East Precinct?
Take a wild guess what kind of people are usually inside the East Precinct building?
