Man who died months after Summit Ave beating identified

The man who died last week in a long-term care facility eight months after a severe beating on a Capitol Hill street has been identified as Freddie Lee Kibby.

Police said the 48-year-old died last week as a result of injuries suffered in a violent Summit Ave dispute.

A spokesperson for the King County Prosecutor says the case has not yet been referred to the office by homicide detectives. Police said detectives were investigating the case following Kibby’s death.

Kibby had a lengthy criminal record including domestic violence, drug crimes and possession of stolen property. In 2007, he was convicted for possession of cocaine and unlawful possession of a firearm sentenced to just under two years in prison.
