Debacle Records and Hollow Earth Radio produce Debacle Fest, a weekend music fest at two locations on Capitol Hill. Friday night at Fred Wildlife features nine bands,  a Saturday matinee at Highline features five bands, Saturday night at Fred Wildlife features nine bands, and then Sunday closes out  the fest at Motor in SODO Lo-Fi Performance Gallery in S. Lake Union with eight. Do the math: that’s 31 performances over 3 days. Whew. Proceeds benefit Hollow Earth Radio. Lineup details and tickets available at DebacleFest.com.

debacle fridayNorthwest Film Forum hosts a series of films which look at cinematic approaches to architecture through four recent films. The Build World series consists of The Enigma (2011) on FridayArchitect: a Chamber Opera Inspired by Louis Kahn (2012) and The Reconversao (2012) on Saturday; and Perret in France and Algeria (2012) on Sunday.

Described as a “mythic, mysterious and sensuous romantic thriller” and also as a “fast-paced zombie-horror-thriller.” The perfect date movie! Something for everybody!   • Spin the Bottle: The monthly variety show features theater, music, dance, spoken word, and… mystery slut! Annex Theatre, 11p.

  • Celebrate Free Comic Book Day as Phoenix Comics & Games rises on Broadway for its first day of business.
  • Meet your school board rep. 10a at the Capitol Hill Library.
  • WordPlay, a spoken word festival, occurs all day Saturday and into the evening with two workshops, a performance, and an artist reception. The festival is oriented around  the topic of recovery (all kinds: anorexia, alcoholism, mental illness, and others). Gay City Health Project (517 E PIke St), 10a – 9:30p.
  • DIY French Macarons: learn how to make these French pastry treats at Paris Eastside, 10:30a – 1:30p.
  • Author reading: author MJ McDermott reads from the novel The Improv, based on the authors experiences. Elliott Bay Book Company, 2p

A correction for the debacle fest…

“Sunday closes out the fest at Motor in SODO”

it’s actually going to be held at Lo-Fi, according to their site.
