If you open the picture by itself in a new tab, it loads full size and you can zoom in pretty far. The thing he is holding that sort of looks like it could be a gun? To me, it’s pretty clearly an iPhone.
Not that he doesn’t also have a gun, but I thought it was interesting that the caption combined with the picture sort of implies that it is actually a picture of him holding a gun, which it is not.

It could very well be a phone as he was likely talking to police at some point, and I do know that he also called KOMO news. speculation is a funny thing though, he may very well have a gun in his left hand which you can not see.
He had a cellphone in his right hand and a gun in his left hand but you can’t see his left hand in this photo but KOMO4 showed video where he’s clearly waving around a gun in his left hand.
