Cat Killed in Hit-and-Run

I’m hesitant to post such a morbid item, but in case anyone is missing their beloved feline: this morning around 7:45 am a white cat with large black spots on its torso was killed at 19th and Republican by a car. The driver looked behind to see the cause of the (horrific) thud, but did not stop to assist.

The cat was wearing a pink and white beastie bands collar with a small bell but no contact info.

I moved the cat to the sidewalk and a nice passerby stopped to help. She made numerous calls to the city to find out how to handle the body.

If this is your cat, I’m very sorry. If you’d like more info, please reply via CHS.

Thanks for posting this, Clare. I manage the apartment building where the cat was left. I moved the cat off the street and against the building, so nothing else will happen to it. I also called animal control and gave them the exact address and location of the cat.

If the owner reads this, please respond here and I will transfer the body to you if animal control has not picked him/her up yet.

I’m terribly sorry for your loss.

Drew, thanks so much for responding. I’m sorry that you have had to deal with the body–it’s hard to imagine someone driving away after doing this, isn’t it?

If you do hear from the owner please let me know. I wasn’t able to makes signs today to post in the hood, but plan do so tomorrow evening.

Anyways, thanks again.

Best regards,

Clare
