  • E Madison fire: Seattle Fire responded to a report of smoke coming from the first floor of the building home to El Portal Coffee shop and roaster in the 2300 block of E Madison late Friday night. Responding crews arrived just before midnight to find a small fire in one room of the building and were able to quickly bring the blaze under control. There were no immediate details on the cause of the fire or any damage to the building. Nobody was injured in the incident. UPDATE Monday, November 25th, 9:40 AM: Owner Ignacio Ventura tells us damage was minimal after a candle caught fire in the bathroom of El Portal. We recommend you stop by for tamales ASAP.
