We’re getting an earlier than usual start on trying to highlight donation and giving drives this year. If you know about a drop-off box or collection effort at a local business or organization, let us know and we’ll add it to the list. You can leave a comment or send us mail with details.

  • Black Coffee box for Jewish Family Service — canned goods and non-perishables — 501 E Pine — Info

In these tough economic times it is as important, if not more so, to consider the needs of others. It is also vital to take a moment to consider your own health and wellbeing and do something positive for your body. This November, you can do both. In the spirit of community improvement, Health First Chiropractic is offering a services-for-food exchange program from Nov. 18th through the 27th.
Existing clients may receive their next treatment in exchange for one grocery bag stocked with non-perishable foodstuffs. This represents up to a $95 value. New patients can schedule a standard evaluation, including X-Ray analysis, for two bags of groceries. This service normally costs $440. Health First has partnered with Northwest Harvest for this food drive, and all donations will be distributed through their donation center on Cherry street.
Last year’s food drive generated 987 pounds of food for donation! It makes a difference! Our goal for 2013 is to donate 2000 pounds of food and 20,000 dollars in services.

  • Central Co-op — 16th and Madison — canned goods and perishables — Info
At check-out, customers can round-up their grocery bill and change gets donated to local food banks. (If your bill is $4.23, round it up to $5 and the .77 cents will be donated.)  Central Co-op will match the first $1,000 raised by this Holiday Foodraising effort. As usual, customers can also place non-perishable food items in the JFS food bank box at the main entrance to the Co-op.
