Bill’s Off Broadway will head into a long, 20-month halftime at Harvard and Pine following the Seahawks’ big Monday Night Football game.

Owner Don Stevens tells CHS the original Bill’s will close following Monday’s game to make way for the two-year construction and preservation project slated to transform the nearly 100-year-old auto row-era building into a new 200 apartment unit, mixed-use project that will include a renovated home for the much-loved pizza joint and bar. Adjacent Red Label Moto and the confusingly charming 15th Ave Garage are also reportedly lined up to return when the new construction is complete. Meanwhile, expect demolition to also begin around the corner from Bill’s where the massive Pike Motorworks project is ready to dig in.

CHS first told you about the Bill’s building plans way back in September 2012. In the time since, Stevens opened a second Bill’s up in Greenwood and got a short reprieve on Capitol Hill. Along the way, the building home to Bill’s since it replaced Mothers Tavern in the early ’70s was rejected as a possible Seattle landmark.

Monday night, Bill’s will enter the locker room after a 39-year run. If things go as planned, the overhauled and expanded space should be ready for the games to resume just in time for the NFL’s kick-off in 2015.

Bauhaus Pop-up
While Bill’s is preparing to wrap things up on Capitol Hill, another longtime favorite due for big changes is popping-up with a short-term presence while its new (also temporary!) home on E Pine is being readied. You’ll find the Bauhaus Pop-up Shop daily inside the Baltic Room at 1207 Pine.
