  • 12/Jefferson shooting reported: A 19-year-old arrived at Swedish First Hill’s emergency room just after 7 AM Monday with a gunshot police say he suffered in an incident at 12th and Jefferson. Details on the incident at this point are preliminary, but police say the male told investigators he was shot early Monday morning on the sidewalk near 12th and Jefferson near Seattle University. The victim’s injuries were not life threatening. Police have not yet released any suspect information in the shooting. Last week, a Seattle U student was stabbed in the chest in a robbery attempt on the campus on the southern edge of Capitol Hill. Earlier this month, a male victim arrived at Harborview following a shooting outside a 12th Ave restaurant. UPDATE 5:35 PM: SPD has confirmed details we reported earlier and added a little more on the situation here. Circumstances around the shooting are murky at best — “The only description the victim provided of the suspect was an East African male in his 20′s, approximately six feet tall.”
  • Nightspot window incidents: It was a tough weekend for Capitol Hill nightspot glass with two incidents reportedly involving busted windows and injuries. Early Sunday morning, police and medics were called to 14th and Madison’s Chop Suey to a report that two men had been pushed through a plate glass window during a fight at the club:

On January 19th at approximately 12:59 a.m. officers responded to a night club for the report of an assault with property damage. Preliminary investigation indicates that a man (victim #1) and his girlfriend were inside the Chop Suey night club located in the 1300 block of East Madison Street. The two adult male suspects were inside the club as well.

Victim #1’s girlfriend was dancing with one of the suspects and victim #1 became jealous. A fight broke out between the two suspects, victim #1 and his male friend (victim #2). The two suspects pushed victim #1 through a large plate glass window at the front of the club, from the inside out. The two suspects then pushed victim #2 through the same window. Both suspects then fled the scene running southbound on 14th Avenue and were gone upon the arrival of officers.

When officers arrived on scene victim #1 was unconscious and had sustained a large cut to his upper left arm/shoulder area resulting in significant blood loss. To the amazement of officers, victim #2 was not injured.

According to SPD radio dispatches, the suspects were briefly detained by security before they were able to flee the area. Police say one of the men apparently left his credit card behind. SPD is asking that anybody with information about the suspects or their whereabouts contact police. One victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The other victim required no immediate medical care.

Meanwhile, another Hill party spot suffered some broken glass in an incident early Saturday morning at Linda’s. We’re still gathering info on the incident reported just before 2 AM but police were called to the scene to deal with what was later categorized as “property damage” and an “accidental” injury as responding firefighters called in SPD to deal with an “aggressive patient giving them trouble.”

  • 10th Ave E hit and run: A reported hit and run crash involving three vehicles on 10th Ave E near E Newtown Sunday night around 8:25 closed the street for hours but didn’t keep police tied up looking for the suspect for long. According to police radio, witnesses reported one of the drivers had left the scene of the collision and was at a nearby residences where she was found by police. Investigators kept the street closed for a few hours following the incident.
