A 32-year-old California man has been charged with burglary and a count of indecent liberties for a New Year’s morning attack on a Bellevue Ave E woman after he allegedly entered her ground-floor apartment and fondled the woman as she and her husband slept.
Robert O’Brien, a Stanford student, is being held on $100,000 bail after police say he turned himself in earlier this week:
The victim described the moment she awoke to an attacker in her bed to police:
According to the SPD detective investigating the case, O’Brien claimed he was very intoxicated on New Year’s and could not recall anything about his journey from a South Lake Union party to his parents’ apartment near E Harrison and Belmont Ave E — or how he had lost his driver’s license and his shoes:
O’Brien is scheduled to enter a plea on the charges later this month.
