Welcome to 2014. Here’s what you need to know from the last few weeks on Capitol Hill. What comes next? Stay tuned.
- Some sort of madman tried to torch a packed Neighbours just after midnight on New Year’s. Police are looking for help finding the perpetrator of the arson but have *not* issued an official warning to area bars about more possible attacks.
- Two 24-year-old men died and a woman went to the hospital when their car flipped on Lakeview Blvd E just before 3 AM New Year’s Day. CHS stopped by to see the notes, flowers and crosses left by friends and loved ones at the crash scene.
- Also in the first hours of the new year, a woman was sexually assaulted as an intruder entered her Bellevue Ave E apartment and climbed into bed as she and her husband slept.
- The Bagel Deli closed on 15th Ave E.
- 22 Doors closed on 15th Ave E.
- Tallulah’s and Hello Robin and Molly Moon’s opened on 19th Ave E.
- Cone & Steiner opened on 19th Ave E.
- Chuck’s Central District celebrated a “soft opening” at 20th and Union.
- The Country Doctor showed us its new after-hours clinic.
- The Bullitt Center was recognized as the most sustainable building in the world.
- The woman who got her arm stuck in the Samurai Noodle machine is doing just fine.
