• Cal Anderson beating: The suspect in a brutal beating and robbery inside Cal Anderson was arrested as he hung out nearby drinking a beer and smoking in the park Sunday night. According to the report on the assault and robbery, police were called to the park around 9:30 PM Sunday after callers said they saw a man beating another man, dragging him to the sidewalk and leaving him there bleeding before settling into another part of the park for a beer and a smoke. Officers arrived to find a severely beaten man with a possible eye fracture and facial injuries bleeding profusely and curled in a fetal position on the ground near the Nagle Place basketball court. One witness said she heard a loud thud when the victim’s head hit the ground. Another witness pointed police to a man leaving the park to the north where officers apprehended the suspect before he fled.
  Police say the suspect admitted to beating the victim after an argument. Police took the suspect’s bloody shoe as evidence and found the victim’s wallet in the suspect’s jacket. The suspect told police he took the wallet because he won the fight and “that’s the game,” according to the report. The suspect was arrested for investigation of robbery. The victim was transported to Harborview and had yet to regain consciousness at the time of the report.
• Summit Ave beer robbery: Police were called to a market in the 100 block of Summit Ave E last Wednesday afternoon after an employee was beat up in a strong arm robbery of an 18-pack of beer involving a suspect police were able to identify thanks to security video. According to the SPD report on the incident, the clerk told police he fought with the suspect over the 18-pack before the man fled the store with the beer. Police arrived to find the clerk with fresh cuts on his face and forehead from the fight. The suspect, described a Native American, 5’10” and wearing blue jeans and black and blue rain coat, was captured on video surveillance and identified by police. He was also believed to have been involved in another nearby assault earlier that day. He had not been arrested at the time of the report.
• Q bouncer suffers broken nose: Security at Q apparently made the right choice in turning away a Saturday night patron who police say returned to the club’s Broadway entrance and broke a man’s nose in retaliation for being barred from the dance spot.
• Boom, power outage: Police and Seattle Fire investigated a loud boom and flash in the area of the 400 block of Bellevue Ave E Tuesday night around 8:20 PM. A transformer issue caused by something contacting power lines nearby reportedly knocked out power to one Summit Ave E building and around 150 City Light customers. There were no reported injuries and crews were able to restore service overnight.
