  • E Madison carjacking: Seattle Police are investigating a carjacking reported Saturday morning at the 7-11 on E Madison. We don’t have details on the incident yet but an officer reported being flagged down by the victim at the convenience store near 16th and E Madison just before 7 AM. We’ll update when we learn more.

UPDATE: SPD posted details of the morning’s reported carjacking late Saturday night:
A male suspect remains at large after an armed robbery, assault and car-jacking of a teenager early this morning.

On March 1st at approximately 6:20 a.m. a patrol officer was leaving a 711 store in the 1500 block of East Madison Street when he observed the 17-year-old male victim at the store entry with blood on his face and shirt who appeared to have been in a fight. The officer asked the victim if he was okay and if he needed assistance or medical attention. The victim declined and used the store phone to apparently call a relative. The officer remained with the victim and after approximately 15 minutes the victim reported that he had been car-jacked at gunpoint.

The victim told the officer that he had been driving in the 1400 block of 15th Avenue when he saw the suspect on the street and slowed down thinking he was an acquaintance. The suspect approached the victim and pulled open the car door, pointed a handgun at him and demanded his wallet and vehicle. The suspect took a debit card and demanded the PIN. The victim declined. The suspect proceeded to pistol-whip the victim and pull him out of his car. The suspect got into the victim’s white 2000 Ford Contour and drove away. He remains at large. The victim told the officer that he did not know the suspect.

The officer transported the victim to the East Precinct where he was later picked up by his mother.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s, six feet tall with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, plaid shirt and khaki pants.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity or whereabouts of the suspect or the stolen vehicle is asked to call 911 or Seattle Police and refer to this incident. Anonymous tips are welcome.

This remains an active and on-going investigation.

  • 12th Ave muggings: Police were called to the scene of two street robberies last night around the area of 12th and Jefferson. In the first, a Seattle U student reported he was shoved to the ground and robbed as he walked near 12th and Spruce just before 6p Friday. The victim told police his assailant attacked him from behind, shoved him to the pavement and pulled his cellphone and his wallet from his pockets. The suspect was described as an unknown race male, wearing a grey hoodie and dark blue jeans with a design running down the side. Later in the night around 2:40 AM, a woman told police she was walking near 12th and E Jefferson when she was jumped by three males who took her purse and fled on E Remington Ct.  The suspects were described only as three dark-skinned males. One of the suspects was wearing dark clothing and a red cap, the victim told police. Searches for the suspects in both incidents were not successful.
  • Summit Ave burglary: The victims in a 600 block Summit Ave E burglary slept through the crime in the early morning hours of February 22nd. According to the SPD report on the incident, a thief was able to enter the residence via patio doors before rummaging through the place and stealing medication and a laptop. The male victim told police he was awoken around 3 AM by his barking dog but that he and his girlfriend remained in bed and fell back to sleep. According to the report, the burglar scattered items from the residence around the patio and urinated on the living room floor before leaving.
