What’s worse than the Seattle Freeze? Making a new friend in a bar, only to have them rob you several hours later.

That’s what a Ballard man told police happened to him late Saturday night. The victim said he first met the suspect in the robbery at a bar on Capitol Hill near 11th and Pine where the pair chatted, had drinks and went walking around the hill. Around 4 AM, while on their walk, the suspect informed the victim he had a handgun, and said he needed to take him to an ATM and withdraw cash.

The victim walked with the suspect to an ATM on Broadway, withdrew cash and handed it to the suspect, who fled. The victim then walked to the East Precinct and contacted police.

The victim described the suspect as a black male in his late 20s, 5’10, 160 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, purple shirt and blue jeans.

Robbery detectives are investigating the case.
