• Belmont street robberies: Seattle Police were investigating two street robberies that occurred within minutes on Thursday night and just blocks away from each other on Capitol Hill. In the first incident, an armed robbery involving six suspects including two males armed with knives was reported at Belmont and Pike around 10:30 PM. About five minutes later, a 911 caller reported a mugging at Belmont and E Olive St in which a phone was taken. Police were able to track the phone to Nagle Pl near Cal Anderson but the suspects were not immediately found. No word yet if the robberies were related but SPD tells us to expect more information on the incidents shortly. UPDATE: Here is more from SPD on the robberies:
  

  Two men were held at knifepoint and another man was knocked to the ground in two separate robberies on Capitol Hill late Thursday night.

  In the first incident, two men were walking in the 1600 block of Belmont Avenue when a group of six suspects surrounded them and demanded money.

  After two of the suspects drew knives, one of the victims took off running.

  One of the suspects grabbed the man’s backpack and held on, but the victim was able to slip out of the suspect’s grasp.

  Five of the suspects fled the scene, but a sixth suspect chased after the victim for about a block before he turned and fled after the victim ran inside a restaurant.

  Neither of the two victims were able to provide police with a description of the suspects, but a witness told police one of the suspects had a neck tattoo and was wearing glasses.

  Less than 10 minutes later, police received a report of another robbery at Belmont Avenue and E. Olive Street.

  A man later told officers he was walking down the street when he heard someone running up behind him and was shoved from behind.

  He turned and saw two men, who told him to hand over everything he was carrying before shoving the victim to the ground.

  The victim handed over his iPhone and wallet and the two suspects fled.  The victim described the two suspects to police as a black male in his early 20s, about 5’10, with an afro, wearing a black shirt and baggy pants, and a hispanic male, 5’10, 170 pounds, muscular, and wearing a baseball cap.

  Officers searched the area after both robberies but weren’t able to find any of the suspects.

  Police don’t know if either of the incidents are related, but both cases have been sent to the Robbery Unit for investigation.

• Pike/Broadway sidewalk crash follow-up: The City Attorney tells CHS it is not pursuing a case against the driver in Monday’s early morning collision that sent a limo careening into a pedestrian on the busy sidewalk at Pike and Broadway. A female victim suffered a non-life threatening leg injury in the incident. Police arrested the driver of the towncar and he was booked into jail for investigation of driving while intoxicated and assault for pushing a person at the scene of the crash but no complaint will be filed against the man, according to a City Attorney spokesperson.
• Sobering van robbery arrest: Police didn’t have to do much to chase down an inebriated male suspect accused of chasing and attempting to rob his victim early last Friday morning near 13th and E Madison. According to the SPD report on the incident, a county sobering van was called to the area just before 3 AM on the morning of the 23rd to pick up a male and transport him to a sobering facility. As the inebriated man was taken into the van, a person told the sobering unit’s personnel that their new client had just tried to rob him. Police were called and told that the inebriated robbery suspect had said to his victim “Give me all your money, bitch,” and threatened to rip his victim’s head off. The suspect was taken into custody by police.
• Pike/Pine gunfire: The police report has been released for an incident we covered in a previous blotter update involving gunfire on a busy night near the Pike/Pine entertainment district early last Saturday morning. Arriving officers found a male at the scene who said he had a gun pointed at him by a group of four males in a Cadillac SUV who left the area. Here’s how SPD says the 11th Ave incident went down:The report says a .40 caliber brass shell casing was found in the 1400 block of 11th Ave. There were no arrests.
